I chose the fabulous new Grassy Grove bundle from the January to June mini catalogue to create this simple fun fold card using the baby wipe technique
The new horizons 6×6 designer series are a fabulous addition to your stash for backgrounds but at the time of creating this card, these were unfortunately out of stock. I CASE’d the idea from Amanda at the Craft Spa here who shared her idea of using the baby wipe swipe/swoosh technique as a great alternative and am really pleased with the results.
Baby Wipe Technique
For anyone not familiar with the baby wipe technique, here are some instructions:
- – A fresh clean baby wipe, an ink pad or re-inker and a piece of acetate sheet or blending mat
- – Press the ink pad or a few drops of re-inker onto a window sheet or blending mat.
- – Fold your baby wipe into a few layers and place on the window sheet to pick up the ink…
- – Swoosh (swipe or wipe!) your baby wipe across your piece of card…
- – Swoosh & build up colour & texture until you are happy with your design
Balmy Blue and Soft Succulent coloured inks were used to create the baby wipe technique background. The grass and tree stamps were stamped in a combination of soft succulent and evening evergreen inks. Each design is unique depending on how much ink is swooshed onto the paper and where the stamped images are placed. You can also add birds to the sky in your design.
The basic black main card base was cut with the die from the bundle and I also cut 1 large and 1 small deer and attached them to the front of the card.
The inside of the card was stamped in Soft Succulent ink using a variety of the trees and grasses stamps from the set.
This card lends itself to a variety of occasions, and therefore used the ‘made with love just for you’ sentiment. This was stamped in Versamark, covered with white embossing powder and heat embossed onto a small stitched rectangle from a piece of black card
