A few months ago my nephew Darren (also our God Son) and his future bride Kirsteen asked me to design and make their wedding invitations incorporting the ‘Japanese Cherry Blossom’ design and in the colour scheme of ‘Cadbury purple’. I used the Stampin Up! ‘Elegant Eggplant’ cardstock, which was a perfect contrast for the deep purple we all know from our Cadbury’s Chocolate bars or Easter Eggs.

After making a few samples this is the design they chose:-

The design was an open envelope style, secured together by a belly band in white pearlised card. Inside the invitation, I included the wedding invite (2 separate versions one for the wedding itself and one for the evening reception). On the right hand side, I incorporated a little pocket, which displayed their wishes for presents etc. and housed a separate sheet of paper with instructions on how to find the various venues.

The wedding was held at Ordsall Hall in Manchester, with the evening reception being held at the Lowry Centre, Salford Quays, overlooking Manchester United’s ‘Old Trafford’ football ground and the TV studios.

The request from the hosts, was for no presents, but monetary donations could be made if desired, to their ‘Wishing Well’ to allow for future purchases and complete items on their ‘bucket list’. As an extra feature, I also made some co-ordinating money wallets below, for this purpose.
The wedding was a great success and the weather stayed fine. It was also an opportunity for family and friends to get together and the venue’s were so central, it gave us an excuse to make a weekend of it, do a spot of shopping (as if I needed the excuse!) and visit some of our old cruising friends. We even managed to spend a few hours in Ikea on the way across.

Darren & Kirsteen – You probably guessed the colour scheme was Cadbury Purple….

My family Selfie…
I know I should have dressed Paul and made sure his collar was flat..lol

As part of their wedding present I made a mini book containing 6 pages in Elegant Eggplant and Pearlised white Card  and decorated it using various dies and punches. I left most of the pages blank so they could fill it with their own photos

I showed the completed book to my class members and they all responded with a plea to make one themselves in a class.  I have therefore planned a class to make a similar book in a pool party (pale blue) colour combination. The book can be adapted to suit all occasions:

 Saturday 12th September 10.00 am to 4.00pm

£22 including all materials and tuition

Places are limited so please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to reserve a space
